All kinds of things are happening in Estonia. The jails are full. There are drug addicts and alcoholics everywhere. The Estonians are at odds with the Russians, the people are hounded by unemployment, the state is writhing in crisis, but the public servants earn millions – or steal. Colored people are harassed and mobbed. I turn on the television and …our theatre is actually staging “Uncle Vanya” again. We‘ve been doing it for a hundred years, undeterred by life.
