Info: Born in Thun in 1971, he tried his hand at various professions before working as a bookseller for seven years. He has been a freelance author since 1997, debuting works of both prose and drama in 1998. His national and international breakthrough came with the release of “The Sexual Neuroses of Our Parents” (2003): In it, a mentally handicapped girl discovers sex and its SM variations – the liberal and tolerant nature of her surroundings turns out to be pure pretense. Similarly, he takes a moralist stance in many of his other theatre and narrative works. His novel “100 Days” (2008) takes place during the times of genocide in Rwanda. Bärfuss exposes the lies and contradictions in our society. His plots are straightforward and forgo psychology, yet they are not told without humor. His play “Oil” (2009) is the story of a modern treasure hunt, in which the discovery of an oil well and the resulting cash flow are unable to repair the destruction to a couple's relationship after they endure the stress and strain of the search. “Parzifal” (2010) recounts Wolfram von Eschenbach's tale as a drama of perception, self-discovery and socialization.
